Ep 258: Unlock Your True Entrepreneurial Potential with William Deck

Unlock Your True Entrepreneurial Potential with William Deck

In this episode, Elzie talks to William Deck, the Founder of MindBusiness, about entrepreneurship and how it relates to mental fitness. William emphasizes the importance of being genuine rather than catering to external expectations. He also explains that self-sabotage is what often prevents entrepreneurs from achieving their goals and reaching success, so it is vital for entrepreneurs to recognize their own mental limitations to prevent this from happening.

William also discusses how understanding oneself is key to being able to present one's true self authentically. He recommends asking important fundamental questions that impact the quality of our life and being open-minded and listening to others to identify what you don't know and move forward with your business.

Tune in to learn why it's necessary to communicate openly with family about potential sacrifices, as well as making sure that joy is at the center of everything that is done both personally and professionally.

Episode Highlights

02:27 - I think we've been taught to focus on the externals, like who we are based on what people perceive us as or who we are based on what we think people will need us to be, as opposed to simply learning how to be, how to be present with yourself.

11:09 - I think once again we all have unlimited potential. That's something that I believe deeply. The question is, "How can we identify the barriers within us?" Right? So, I don't think that there are necessarily external foes that could keep us from getting to our goals, but the enemy within or the inner me, if you break down the word enemy into inner me, that's going to be our biggest threat to our success. The unresolved traumas, the fear, the doubt, the worry, the feelings of unforgiveness and unworthiness that may have stemmed from childhood. Just simply being able to understand those and to be able to move past them. That's one of the biggest keys. So, I totally agree because no one can stop us put ourselves.

28:36 - It's good to have a strong sense of self, but that includes knowing or identifying what you don't know and what you don't understand, and reaching out and connecting with people and organizations or whatnot early and often to be able to help to fill those gaps in knowledge, in ability to take action on certain things, building platforms – whatever it may be – building a website.

36:24 - Begin with the end in mind. As you begin to think about and conceive some of these ideas, what are the actual outcome? How can you uniquely add value to the marketplace based on your natural skill set or what brings you joy? There's always a way. But what is the end goal? What is that feeling, that outcome that would make everything that you do worthwhile? Think about that first and get really clear on what that is.
